Emily Jolley
Emily is an abstract artist specialising in elegant and expressive paintings, inspired by the natural world and the connections and transience of our daily lives. Often using unconventional art materials such as household emulsion paint, she also embraces wider media including drawing, printing, and stained-glass.
Every painting is a balance between intuitive and considered marks, energy and calm. Process and composition play with notions of authorship: choices made, actions taken, and incidental happenings that occur in fleeting moments.
Her stained-glass pieces often incorporate found scraps, finding beauty and creating original compositions from elements that would otherwise be discarded.
